Peoples Security Bank & Trust Announces Hiring of First New Jersey Business Center


Peoples Security Bank & Trust Company (PSBT) of Scranton, Pa., Announced executive-level appointments at its first business center in New Jersey, slated to open October 2021 in Piscataway .

John J. Pagano, Senior Vice President, New Jersey Market Director

Pagano joins the team with over 27 years of banking experience specifically in the commercial real estate market, including multi-family, MHP, retail stores anchored in grocery stores, retail stores anchored in credit, self-storage, industrial and medical office assets. In addition to her managerial skills proficient in leading high performing teams, Pagano has a designated focus experience in portfolio management and client retention. In its leadership role, Pagano will play a key role in developing the brand’s visible presence in the market. As the Designated Senior Leader, his role will also be to proactively build long-term relationships with business owners and customers across the region.

Prior to joining Peoples Security Bank & Trust, Pagano was Vice President / Relationship Manager at Lakeland Bank in Waldwick, where he was responsible for the creation, structuring and negotiation of commercial real estate loans in South Jersey, southeastern Pennsylvania and northern Delaware. Previously, he was appointed Vice President of Oritani Bank in Cherry Hill, where during his tenure he structured and negotiated commercial real estate loans in the same geographic territory. Previously, as vice president of Columbia Bank at Voorhees, Pagano was responsible for developing commercial and construction real estate loans while establishing and overseeing relationships in South Jersey, as well as the greater Philadelphia area. Pagano has also held senior positions related to commercial lending activities at Amboy National Bank in Old Bridge, as well as the former United Jersey Bank (Summit Bank) in Princeton.

Pagano received an Associate of Science degree in Law Enforcement from Mercer County Community College, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Rider University. He also obtained a certificate in banking from the American Institute of Banking. A dedicated civic leader and passionate community volunteer, Pagano is a member in good standing of the Mortgage Bankers Association. Vice-President and Class IV member of the Town Planning Council of the Canton of Florence, he is also an active member of the Environmental Commission of the Canton of Florence and of the Mayor’s Working Group of the Canton of Florence on Affordable Housing. He is a sub-committee member of the former Roebling Steel site dezoning committee, assistant cubmaster and den manager for Roebling / Florence Pack 3, assistant scoutmaster for Roebling / Florence Troop 3 and collection chair fund for the Roebling Pack 3 committee. In addition, he is also a BSA Certified Merit Badge Advisor for the Garden State Council. Pagano is a resident of Florence.

Thomas G. Guinan, Senior Vice President, Senior Commercial Lender

Guinan joins the team with over three decades of experience managing complex portfolios in commercial mortgage, construction and residential lending. Throughout his career, Guinan has excelled in creating precise financial solutions to drive substantial growth in portfolio management with a wide variety of clients in the Tri-State region, as well as in the eastern part of the United States. Pennsylvania and Delaware. In his new management role, Guinan will be responsible for developing new business activities in the form of lending, advisory and treasury services for the regional market.

Prior to his hiring at Peoples Security Bank & Trust, Guinan was recently appointed Vice President, Head of Relations at Lakeland Bank in Waldwick. Previously, he was Senior Vice President, Office of Commercial Loans at ConnectOneBank in Englewood Cliffs. His professional experience has also included the roles of Executive Chairman, Director of Loans at Oritani Bank in Washington Township and Senior Vice President – Director of Commercial Lending at Columbia Bank at Fair Lawn.

Guinan received a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University. In his spare time, he enjoys being a public member of the Bergen County Bar Ethics Committee, a Trustee of the Bergen County Bar Foundation, and Trustee of the Hackensack Golf Club. Guinan is a resident of Wyckoff.
